Attorney costs

There is no legal regulation for the level of fees for patent attorneys. Invoicing is usually based on a time-based fee.

The level of legal attorneys’ fees is regulated by law. Attorney and client can agree different remuneration models, for example, remuneration on the basis of a time-based fee. In court proceedings however, it is not possible to go below the legal fee.

Process costs

Process costs are the expenses of the parties for conducting a legal dispute. They are composed of court costs and out-of-court costs.

Official fees

The official fees for proceedings before the patent and trademark offices (application for property rights, opposition proceedings etc.) are determined by the scale of charges of the respective offices.
